The Side-Tooth Steam Seal is based on the labyrinth steam seal with no changes to its external shape or dimensions, and adds side teeth and bottom teeth into the labyrinth cavity. Through the flow-diverting and turbulence-inducing effects of these additional teeth, the kinetic energy of the steam passing through the labyrinth cavity is more effectively converted into thermal energy, thereby reducing the amount of leakage.
Advantages
- With the same structure and material as conventional seals, the sealing performance is 30% better than that of conventional labyrinth seals.
- No impact on turbine startup, shutdown, or safe operation due to seal retrofit.
- Maintenance and installation procedures are identical to those of conventional labyrinthsteam seals.
