The award-winning air preheater seal retrofit project at a CHN Energy power plant was undertaken by HuaYuTong as the general contractor, and the company also contributed to the writing of the related technical paper.

The project was publicly tendered on the China Energy Tender Network on April 18, 2023. After evaluation and recommendation by the bid evaluation committee and confirmation by the tenderer, HuaYuTong was awarded the project as the winning bidder.

Construction commenced in June 2023. The retrofit scope covered four air preheaters across two boilers (Unit 1 and Unit 2), with a total construction period of 57 days.

For the hot end seals, our patented floating seal device was adopted. The hot end radial seal system utilized “clearance leakage control technology,” while the cold end seals employed our patented gravity seal device.

Third-party testing confirmed that under 300MW load, the air leakage rates of both boilers’ air preheaters were below 5%, earning high recognition from the power plant.

Since the retrofit, the units have been in operation for over one year, and follow-up tests have shown that the air leakage rate remains stably below 5%.
